Pass this one up
DESCRIPTION: The ambience was nice but the food left a lot to be desired. The bastilla was very soggy, the eggplant spread was tasteless. The employees are very enjoyable. The belly dancer did not show up the last time that I went there. I have been for both lunch and dinner. You will enjoy it if you have never had real Morrocan food but if you have tasted the best you will find yourself sorely lacking.

You'd be crazy to miss this one.
DESCRIPTION: Now I have never been to a Moroccan restaurant before so I have no point of reference, but I can't remember the last time I have had such a good time while eating out. I have never felt more welcomed at a restaurant in my life; it was almost like I was dining at a friend's house. It was a Sat. night and the belly dancers were there all night long and eventually had the entire restaurant up and dancing with them. The food seemed pretty darn good to me, everything was tender and very flavorful. Just make sure you bring your own wine, I guess they don't serve any there, but even that's a plus because they don't charge you a corking fee. It has been a few weeks since I've been there but I still find myself thinking back to what a good time I had.

Wonderful Moroccan Restaurant
DESCRIPTION: This is the best Moroccan restaurant in the area, and the host/owner is very charming. The food and the ambiance are excellent, and unlike other Moroccan restaurants you order each dish individually, rather than a huge, set menu. Here the diner doesn't become bored and exhausted waiting for the food to arrive, nor does he become bloated and overly full, here he eats just a comfortable amount of the truly excellent food, and in a delightful environment. I highly recommend this restaurant, and additionally utensils are part of the meal. That makes it much easier, and less bread is consumed.

disappointing..........
DESCRIPTION: My experience at Koutoubia was disappointing. I'm French born and grew up in the south surrounded by the North African (Moroccan, Algerian, Tunisian) food culture. I can say that I know fairly well what a good couscous or tagine is. The tagine I ordered was mediocre and my wife's order (couscous merguez) was not better. The portions were unusually tiny, nouvelle cuisine-ish. The "gateau aux amandes" we ordered for dessert was a cookie that tasted like it came out of a box. It was totally overpriced. The owner was a little pushy on the spending. The atmosphere was fine and the entertainment ok (belly dancer) but the (real Moroccan food) was not there. Based on what we ordered (couscous merguez/tagine M'Rouzia/couscous nature aux legumes/couscous K Dra) it was expensive, frugal and not that tasty. Overall, if you have never experienced this type of cuisine before, you might not suffer too much, but if you are French or North African; don't go.

DESCRIPTION: One of my favorite restaurants, but be sure to go in a group of three or more (the larger the better). Service is excellent -- the staff is courteous and attentive. You will feel pampered. The waiters are very good at pouring liquids from great heights, whether it's the water for washing your hands or your peppermint tea. Most of the feasts offer each person a choice between soup and brik. The soup is better, but you should try the brik once. Perhaps you can convince someone else in your group to order it and give you a bite. The B'stilla (phyllo pastry, ground chicken, powdered sugar, and cinnamon) sounds weird, but is one of their best dishes. Don't miss out by ordering a feast without it! It's worth the sticky hands.
